Art At The Church Raises Funds for Food Bank
Striking landscapes, pet portraits, intricate glass work, wool art, and mixed media prints were all on display recently in St John’s upstairs hall for Art at the Church - a show and sale organised by the Lakefield Creative Arts Group. The event took place on a rainy Saturday but still drew a crowd with many browsing the art, picking up artwork for their home, or getting a gift. One buyer was even shopping for Christmas presents! A portion of every sale went to the Lakefield Community Food Bank and a donation box was available for those who wanted to make an offering. In total, the show raised $251.30 for the food bank.
You can next catch the Lakefield Creative Arts Group at the Buckhorn Festival of the Arts, which runs 18th-19th August at the Buckhorn Community Centre. The group is currently on summer break but will resume its Monday meetings in September.
