Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day with an Eye-Opening Walk Across Canada
St John’s is excited to host an interactive, educational workshop that invites participants to learn about the history and heritage of the country’s first inhabitants as Canada celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day.
Taking place on Saturday 21st June, Mapping The Ground We Stand On encourages attendees to consider the cultures and communities that formed the northern part of Turtle Island (Canada) with a mapping exercise and shared dialogue. The event, which takes place at St John’s from 12pm to 4pm, will include representatives from the Curve Lake, Lovesick Lake, and Hiawatha communities as well as members of Lakefield’s churches. There will be a light lunch and a welcome smudge before the workshop begins at 1pm.
The workshop is open to the public and free to attend. Please register by Tuesday 17 June as places are limited. For more information and to register, visit: stjohnslakefield.ca/mappingtheground
