“I Will Give You Rest: Come” - World Day of Prayer 2026

Every year Lakefield hosts an ecumenical worship service to mark World Day of Prayer. This year, the service takes place at Lakefield United Church on Friday 6th March at 1pm. The theme for 2026 is the powerful invitation from Matthew 11:28-30:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

The service is prepared by the WDP Nigerian Committee and features a playlet about a young girl named Chioma and stories of three Nigerian women: Beatrice, Jato, and Blessing. Their experiences reveal how God provides rest through community support, faith, and hope. There will also be a Bible study, original Nigerian music, and a presentation on the country’s history and culture.
