Christmas is fast approaching and that means we’ve a very full and festive church calendar. Whether you’re in the mood to go gift-shopping, sing carols, gather round the Christmas tree, or enjoy an old-fashioned, seasonal sing-a-long, you’ll want to put the following dates in your diary.
Jingle All The Way Christmas Fair
St John’s annual Christmas Fair, this is one of the biggest fundraisers in the church calendar and always attracts a crowd. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever with a holiday decor and houseplants section in additional to the usual crafts table, bakes table, and kids corner. There’ll be some festive goodies to snack on, warm mulled cider, and plenty of gift-getting opportunities.

Lakefield Community Christmas Carol Concert

This year’s performances include the Peterborough Pop Ensemble, the Lakefield Children’s Chorus and the Lakefield Community Choir. Admission is free, a goodwill donation will be taken to support Lakefield Youth Unlimited and Community Care. Get there early as seats fill up fast!

Christmas Fundraiser Concert with Bob Trennum and Friends
A familiar face to many in the Peterborough music scene, Bob Trennum has enjoyed a long career as a music teacher, performer and entertainer. He’s bringing his band to St John’s this December to host a Christmas fundraiser in support of the Food Bank and our other ministries. Bob, his band, and some special guests will perform a medley of Christmas hits, as well as some sing-a-long favourites. Admission is free, a goodwill donation will be taken during the event.

Where: St John’s
Christmas Tree Lighting & Carol Sing at Christ Church
If you’ve never been to the annual Carol Sing at Christ Church, you’re missing out. This beautiful service captures the magic of the season as carols ring out in the small, historic chapel. The night begins outdoors with attendees gathering to see the Christmas tree light up. We then file indoors to sing carols, enjoy some musical performances, and snack on Christmas treats and hot chocolate. Admission is free, donations towards the chapel’s upkeep and maintenance are gratefully received.
When: Friday 4 December, 7pm
Where: Christ Church Community Museum, Queen St, Lakefield
